1. What is The Big Blue Box ?

The Big Blue Box is a National Battery & Electronics Collection Program that offers companies, consumers, municipalities, and generators, a low cost, easy, and flexible way to manage their batteries and portable electronic devices. The Big Blue Box is a UN rated corrugated container that is 13" X 13" X 8.5" and has a 43 pound weight capacity for batteries and portable electronics. Once purchased,
The Big Blue Box includes all shipping, handling, and recycling fees. Fill it, seal it, and UPS will returns the box to us.

2. What is a UN Rating ?

A U.N. rating is a performance oriented standard recognized by the U.S. Department of Transportation for packaging specifications.

3. What can I put into The Big Blue Box ?

The Big Blue Box is designed for batteries, such as rechargeable nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride, lithium ion, and other household type batteries. You may also utilize The Big Blue Box for cellular telephones, pagers, wireless communication devices such as PDA's, MP3's, chargers, portable tools, laptops and any other electronic device that is battery powered.

4. How does The Big Blue Box collection system work ?

The Big Blue Box is a prepaid collection system. Entities that wish to participate in the collection program may place an order with one of our distributors. Containers will be sent out to your location along with instructions on how to properly package your materials. When The Big Blue Box is full simply close the box, and call UPS for a pick up. All materials will be sorted by type, and then processed for recycling.

5. Is The Big Blue Box safe ?

Yes. The Big Blue Box meets U.S. D.O.T. and U.N. packaging standards. Included with your order, The Big Blue Box we provide safety guidelines that can be used to train any of your employees. Along with the training materials, we provide plastic bags for batteries to be placed in prior to going into The Big Blue Box, therefore properly insulating the batteries to prevent unintentional discharges or short circuiting.

6. What about labeling ?

The Big Blue Box provides an accumulation date to assure compliance with state regulations. In addition, there is a label identifying that batteries are contained in The Big Blue Box thus, saving time, money, and maintaining compliance.

7. How do we order and pay for The Big Blue Box ?
